Introduction
YMCA of Singapore has been offering educational courses since 1913. Besides providing education for local and international students towards Secondary Education in Singapore and self-improvement, it also offers intensive preparatory courses and enrichment programmes.
In 2009, YMCA of Singapore expanded its education business by offering quality tertiary programmes in partnership with the Australian Maritime College (AMC) based in Tasmania, Australia, and the University of Strathclyde, through its Strathclyde Business School (SBS) in Glasgow, Scotland, to deliver bachelor and master degree programmes on a part-time basis to qualifying students in Singapore.
2009 was an important milestone for the Strathclyde MBA programme as it marked the 20th anniversary of the programme in Singapore. Since 1989 more than 500 students have graduated from this programme, all of whom are now part of the Strathclyde MBA Alumni.
YMCA Education Centre (YEC) is the entity that incorporates YMCA School, with its preparatory, primary and secondary course offerings, and YMCA Higher Education, offering diplomas and MBA courses. Besides preparing students for educational excellence and exciting careers, it is also the aim of the YEC to inculcate positive character values such as Compassion, Servant Leadership, Honesty, Accountability, Respect and Excellence in developing the body, mind and spirit through the courses that it offers
