Introduction
Advanced manufacturing is the use of innovative technology to improve products and/or manufacturing processes, and it incorporates technological processes into manufacturing for improved competitiveness and efficiency in the manufacturing sectors.
Advanced manufacturing relies on information communication technology (ICT) to integrate the manufacturing and business activities into a seamless efficient operation, and the technologies involved can be categorised in three main groups: efficient production, intelligent production, and effective organisation.
